Nikki Ford & Elizabeth Wright

Nikki and Elizabeth are freelancers providing high quality editing, proofreading and copywriting. Our aim is to help authors pursue their passion projects, focusing on quality without compromising author intent.

Nikki and Elizabeth met through a book review website and their shared passion for all things literary led them to form CandleLit Author Services with the founder of BestChickLit.com, Charlotte Foreman. Together the CandleLit team worked tirelessly to support independent authors in creating and marketing their books, working on a variety of genres and even collaborating on a charity anthology, Let’s Hear It For The Boys for the Movember Foundation.

I started my career as a journalist and, after gaining my NCTJ qualifications, wrote for national women’s magazines as well as some Yorkshire-based publications. I then made the move to copywriting and wrote web copy, press releases, blogs and other marketing materials for a variety of small to medium businesses, from solicitors to photographers, and a few national companies.
However, my first love has always been fiction and I started reviewing with BestChickLit.com on the side. This led to further work in editing and proofreading, something I really enjoyed and proved strong at when I earned my NCTJ Subbing qualification, and have since become a full-time freelance editor. I have now been doing this professionally for six years and have experience tidying up novels, non-fiction, educational materials and websites.

Elizabeth Wright

My entire education has focused on literature and the English language, so it is no wonder that it has led me here.
My qualifications include BA in English Literature, MA in Adaptation, Trinity certified TEFL, and Internet Journalism from London School of Journalism. I am currently training with The Publishing Training Centre and hope to become a member of the Society for Editing and Proofreading in the not too distant future.
I have been a freelancer for over six years now, working with independent authors, self-publishing companies and small to medium businesses. I specialise in author services, including concept discussion, editing and proofreading, blurb writing and beta reads. I am also an experienced copywriter and ghostwriter, covering everything from blog posts to eBook guides and novels. I am happy to write about anything, but the main bulk of my writing experience lies in fiction, lifestyle, education and literature.

Once you’ve completed your novel, we can read through it to look for inconsistencies, plot holes or any little issues you may have missed. We’ll provide you with a breakdown of positive and negative feedback.
